Vaikeuksien kautta voittoon! / from fail to win!

Kun neulojan ystävällä on vaikeaa, ensimmäinen ajatus on että jotain pehmeää täytyy saada toiselle lohdukkeeksi. Kun Outi koki ison elämänmuutoksen, ystäväpiirimme aktivoitui ja pähkimme miten helpotamme hänen oloaan. Lohtupeittoa outi ei halunnut mutta sitten muistimme että olemme kaikki yhdessä ihastelleet ravelryssä nähtyä vessanmatto-babettea.

When knitter's friend has a hard time, the first thought is that the friend needs something soft and comforting. When Outi went through a rough change in life, our friend circle activated and started to think how we could make her life a bit easier. She didn't want a comfort blanket but then we remembered the bathroom rug babette we all had seen on ravelry.

Joten hullut neulojat ostavat babetten ohjeen IK:n sivuilta, opettelevat virkkaamaan englanniksi ja sähläävät urakalla. Kun tietenkään kenenkään mieleen ei tule tehdä suunnitelmaa siitä kuka tekee minkäkin kokoisia tilkkuja tai pitää kirjaa tehtyjen tilkkujen määrästä. Sovitaan vaan että kukin tekee sen kokoisia kun huvittaa ja sen verran ko huvittaa. Kuten arvata saattaa, lopputulos tällä strategialla ei ole hyvä. Ei se ollut meilläkään.

Nobody thought that we should propably do some planning on who does what and how much and maybe someone should keep track of the already finished squares. We just decide that everyone does what they feel like doing and how much they feel like doing. As you can quess, the end result with this strategy can't be good. It wasn't this time either.

Kun lisätään tähän vielä se että, kaksi tilkkujen tekijää asuu Saksassa ja viisi Suomessa eri paikkakunnilla ja tilkkujen lähetys on postin varassa, tulee lisää jännitysmomentteja. Saksatilkut löytyvät tiensä perille mutta kun aletaan tehdä koontimallia, niitä ei löydy mistään. Huomataan myös ettei joku (köh allekirjoittanut) ole osannut lukea ohjetta ja on tehnyt 3-kerroksen tilkkuja 4-kerroksen tilkkujen sijaan. Kokoamissuunnitelman tekijä ei ole osannut laskea kerroksia virkatuista tilkuista ja kaaos on valmis. Seuraa paljon hermojen kiristelyä, itkua ja ahdistusta. Tilataan lisää tilkkuja ja toivotaan parasta. Kaikki tämä tapahtuu salassa Outilta.

When the situation is that two of the friends live in Germany and the other five in different places in Finland and you need to ship the squares around, there is a few more reasons to be anxious. Squares from Germany do arrive but when we start making the first sketch, they are nowhere to be found. We also notice that someone (cough the writer) can't read the pattern and has been doing 3 round squares instead of 4 round squars. Laika who did the sketch, didn't know how you count rounds from a crocheted item and chaos is ready. A lot of anxiety, tears and losing your mind ensues. More squares are ordered and we can just hope the best. All this is done behind Outi's back.

Kaiken tämän jälkeen kuitenkin perjantaina annoimme Outille peiton joka on kasattu rakkaudella (ja raivollakin). Sen alle voi mennä kun tulee paha päivä. Leikkiä babette-mörköä.

On friday we did after all give Outi The Blanket which was built with love (and some rage). She can hide under it on a bad day. Pretend to be a babette monster.
